The Sweats are a pop rock band from sunny southern California that formed in 2014 under the name The Melting Suns. The band is composed of cousins Zach Cardenas (Drums) and Anthony De La Rosa (Lead Guitar), along with best friends Jake Cruz (Vocals/Bass) and Gio Borello (Keys/Rhythm Guitar). The Sweats will make you dance (or cry) with their 80s influenced combination of luscious melodies and phat grooves. At the start, the band pulled most of their influence from bands like Led Zeppelin, Kings of Leon, and Cage the Elephant. As time has passed, the bands’ influences have shifted more into the likes of The Police and The Cure, with some more modern acts like Paramore and The 1975. The band started in the summer of 2014 when Anthony went on a vacation from Nashville to California to visit family. The boys started writing some songs together, and within a few days had the opportunity to take them into the studio. This resulted in their first project together titled ‘Black’. Anthony went back to Nashville, and for two years the band would only work together during the summer. After graduating high school in 2016, Anthony moved to California to pursue the band full force. The first piece of music the band put out after ‘Black’ was ‘Bloom’, and everything started changing. As the boys changed, the sound changed, and an audience began growing. The sound changing resulted in the need for a new name to match the sound, thus The Sweats were born.
